David Villa has been named in the Valencia squad ahead of Sunday’s top of the table clash against Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
The Spanish striker picked up a shoulder injury after a heavy fall in Thursday’s last-16 Europa League tie against German side Werder Bremen.
Villa, who is second top scorer in La Liga this season netting 17 times, had been expected to miss the game but Valencia coach Unai Emery indicated he is ready to risk his star man if he can prove his fitness.
Emery said: “The player badly wants to play and now we have to hope. If we have a player with physical problems and a lot of playing time under his belt and that makes us think that his level will not be at his maximum, then he will not play, but we are hopeful.”
